I have an ornate that’s about 17 inches and over the summer she developed a large bulge in her stomach.

I looked through the forums and online and I have found lots of recommendations to do all sorts of things, but I couldn’t find a single post telling of a success story.

Has anyone had success treating something like this?

DMD123 DMD123 had a teugelsi with similar issues. Had to just reduce feedings down and the size of the food. Likely an acquired defect in cb polys.

I was kinda thinking cb defect.

Looks bloated, happens every feeding?

It hasn’t noticeably changed in size for months. I have sand substrate so I don’t think it’s anything she ate. I feed sinking carnivore pellets as a stable.

This is 100% Bloat. Ornates are proned to this.

I have read through lots of posts suggesting bloat but then nothing suggests the poster had any success treating for bloat.

Agreed. Many with this issue and ask for help with no follow up updates. Weird how that is. Right? Believe it’s likely due to the poly being in QT, and often times a long term treatment to reduce the swelling. Therefore, no updates. Who knows nim dibbley..... We might not hear from u and disappear from this thread too. Lol

Here’s a common example of a Bloat ‘Houdini Thread’. Beblondie provided an informative response

Lol. I’ll try to remember to update this thread if I ever get anywhere. My qt tank currently has my daughters danios and she’d kill me if they went missing. And I’d hate to treat the main tank with meds. I have tried salt and reduced feedings.
