I am looking for some affordable sinking pellets (cheaper than hikari) that do not make a mess of the tank. Has anyone tried these or have any suggestions. Thanks

Zeigler® Aquastable MO

A special diet for both freshwater and saltwater fish.
It contains high levels of protein (40% minimum), vitamins and minerals together with various preservatives and stabilizers that protect the feed against microbial degradation after being placed in the water.
Aquastable MO is a 3/4" sinking pellet with excellent water stability. After wetting, it has a soft, doughy consistency which is ideal for incorporating hormones and medications. Typically used for bottom feeders, as bait in tropical fish and baitfish traps and for attracting fish for harvest and sampling.
Sold in 5- and 44-lb (2.2 and 20 kg) bags. Made in USA. Held in cold storage.

Those Zeigler pellets are a good food for farm fish, or even a grow out food for ornamental fish, however they dont have the color-enhancing ingredients of a good quality ornamental feed. The recipes tend to lean towards protein and calorie-heavy ingredients , lacking much vegetable ingredients, amino acids and vitamin fortification.

i switched to NLS because it was cheaper then hikari, the 5lb buckets i thought were a not bad price and everyone seems to like the pellets.
i don't know about the bulk farm feed

NLS is really good for a staple diet.

Check out Ken's Fish. He has a pellet just like that. I regularly use it to feed the fish in my 220 gal tank. They all seem to love it. Ken's food prices are fantastic.
