Hey All,

I am new to the forums. My wife and i just picked up a 220g for 50% off at a local fish place. We're pretty excited to upgrade from our 90g (freshwater) and then going to upgrade our 30g (cichlid) with the 90. We've decided to build our own wet/dry filter for both, so we're excited about that.

Anyway, I need to fill this 220 with gravel. Can anyone suggest somewhere to get bulk gravel? I've found some natural gravel on sale online for $13/25lb, but wanted to ask if anyone had any specific recommendations.

Thanks!

I usually just get a 0.5cf bag of river rocks from either Lowe's or Home Depot for between 4 and 5 dollars. For my 75g, I bought the medium sized ones and just bought the pea gravel sized ones for a planted tank I'm working on. Just make sure to wash it out really really well. Some ppl actually boil the stones beforehhand.

You can also use the vinegar test to see if they fizz or not.

I used the Home Depot pea gravel for my 260. Very cheap, and I'm happy with the way it looks.

+1 on the home depot gravel
