I'm a little perplexed as to how this silencer tube is supposed to be plumbed. I know it goes into the bulkhead, but what attaches it on the other side (under the aquarium)? I feel like I'm missing something, and how does it seal?

I have a couple black bulkheads not in the photo, but I thought they were for the return? What would the white fitting attached to the aquarium be used for? The aquarium came with other pvc pipe that have ball valves, maybe they attach to it. I'll find out once the tank is on the stand tomorrow.
The bottom of the gray piece slips into the bulkhead inside the black overflow box. Then you run pipe or tubing from the other side of the bulkhead (under the tank) to your sump.
