bulk sand

sand. i want to get white sand(just the generic color) for my pond. i need about 345 lbs so i want to buy it bulk. i read somewere that play sand is sharp. so what kind of sand do i need to get?

Pool filter sand is cheap and would work well. It's about $6 for 50lbs around here.

Howdy,

Play sand is only sharp if harvested by crushing rock. If it comes from a sand pit it's old river sand and, thus, perfect. You can easily feel the difference when you rub it between your fingers. Check out the play sand in your Home Depot. That's where I got mine

If "pool season" is in you can get it at almost any hardware store. Otherwise check a pool supply store.

the reason i dont want my sand to be harp is that i plan on maybe keeping rays in the future

In that case make sure it's quartz pool filter sand. The stuff I use is Aqua Quartz
