Hi guy's I'm having trouble working out what parts I require, my intention is to have a bulkhead inside my weir, I would then like to run the drained water to the sump using flexible hose like used on a canister, however what I don't understand is when I have my bulkhead attached on the bottom how do I go about fitting the hose onto it? If I use the bulkhead below which end goes underneath the tank and how to I attach the hose? Do I squeeze it on one end and let it stay there? Sorry for being very confused!

You need a 90 degree elbow with one end barbed. Put the hose over the barbs and then secure it with a plastic hose clamp. I prefer bulkheads that are threaded in the inside diameter so I can get a 90 deg elbow that's barbed on one end and male threaded on the other. The male threaded end threads into the rear of the bulkhead with some PTFE tape. Then attach the hose as mentioned.

Also, that bulkhead looks rather long. It's best if they're only as long as they need to be.

Hi mate thanks for the reply, may I ask why a 90 degree elbow is required? If the sump entry is right below the bulkhead is it possible to just use a straight barbed piece? When you talk about a barbed piece is this what you were referring too?

Thanks.

Depends which side of the tank the bulkhead is on and where the sump is located. If the bulkheads are on the back and the sump is below the tank then you need 90 deg elbows. If the bulkhead is on the bottom and the sump is below then a straight threaded to barbed adapter like the one pictured is probably what you need. Though I do have a 90 deg one under my tank because the drain hose runs horizontally a bit to the top of the sump...
