When fitting a bulkhead to a glass tank with a drilled hole in the base the procedure is pretty straight forward. My tank will be sitting on ply, so.....do i cut an extra large circular hole in the corner of my ply so my bulkhead will fit on in the traditional way or do i cut an hole in my ply the size of my tank hole and put the bulkhead on sandwiching together the ply and glass?

Never sandwich a bulkhead fittings between anything other than the tank material itself. The best and only option in this case is to drill an extra large hole (x2 size of fitting) in the ply and have the plumbing go through.

+1 ^. That's right. But in some cases depending on how far your drains holes are apart and how far from the edge, it may be more practical to cut a single larger hole for multiple bulkheads.
