So, I've got a new (to me - made in '91) 150g long with holes for two 1" overflows about 5" from the top. I want to maximize the possible flow so I can upgrade my pump later and get decent turnover.

My current plan was to jump to 1 1/2" or 1 1/4" pipe everywhere but the bulkheads to cut down on frictional losses.

The idea is :
bulkhead -> elbow up -> tee to limit water drainage - > elbow down -> pipe to strainer at bottom of tank

on the outside of the tank I will convert to 1 1/4" and run across the room to a sump ~30" lower.

I have a very ugly picture if necessary. (I am, alas, not an artist)

So questions:
1) does this have any obvious flaws that I have somehow overlooked while reading everything ever?

2) Should the across the room run be moved to 2" in the future? (about 14')

3) what kind of turnover should I be able to expect, assuming adequate pumping power? I don't have much confidence in my grasp of the actual numbers involved..

4) questions, comments, sarcastic remarks?

5) will this keep my baby blue whale* alive?

Thanks!

For my build I'm using a product called 'UniSeal' which does the same job as a bulkhead, but doesn't appear to impede flow.
