I am currently having a 8' x 3' tank built. What size inlet and outlet bulkheads would you all recommend? What size and manufacture pump? Not sure on the size of sump yet so any info there would be nice. Thanks for any info.

I would run minimum 2x 1.5" bulkheads for the sump. return holes are not always necessary and I don't use them. you could turnover 2000gph easy with that. perfect with an added large canister or similar.

I would suggest that you research your overflow method before making hole choice decisions. There are several methods that work well, and they aren't Dursos. I would take a long hard look at the Herbie method, or even better, the BeanAnimal. You can find examples of both in the DIY section.

If you're having a tank built, you may as well have it built to your specifications.

Are you using overflow boxes? The overflow boxes in my 300 gallon tank were drilled for 1.5" drains and 1" returns. (I would have preferred 1.5" returns)

Since a lot of pumps have 1.5" ports/discharges, going with 1.5" bulkheads can simply things, even if you go with 1" PVC in the tank. Keep in mind that the hole size is bigger than the bulkhead size. The hole size for the 1.5" bulkheads on my new tank is 2 3/8".

Can't recommend a pump, but I love my one Reeflo so much, I'm going with five Reeflos in my big system. I didn't consider any other brand.

Corner overflows and the builder was going to go with 1.5" and 1" like yours.....I would need to check to be certain though. Just trying to see if I should specify something else before it's done. Thanks

Again, I would *highly* suggest you read up on a "beananimal" and "herbie" as they provide great benefit to noise reduction and silent water flow. A Herbie can be retrofitted into a system (most times), but a Beananimal will be much harder to do later.

Thanks fellahs, I will read up on some of those setups. Noise will not be a major issue.....the tanks will be in the basement as a "fish room".
