Can anyone tell me if feeding 2 or 3 times per day can put growth on my feeders (there the bairns pets but have holidays soon !! ) I've got tanks and jars of whitecloud minows and I am hoping to bulk them up or bring to maturaty quicker than they are gettting there at the minute. At pressent they get 3 days of flake , 1 feed/day + live food 1 / 20 days. It would sound logical but advice would be much welcome.
All the best,
G. John.

I wouldnt try to bulk up your feeders, especially if there feeder comets as theyll create a super amount of waste that youll have to filter out or theyll die.

I got feeders to grow fast just by feeding them Tetra cichlid flake food.

Put them in larger tanks, do frequent, large water changes, and feed at least twice a day. That should increase their growth rates to a certain extent. You could switch their foods to more meaty, fatty foods like live white worms...that would definately do the trick. www.aquabid.com has tons of live cultures of all types. Very nice and handy. You've got to take into account though that they are feeders, their growth rates aren't even going to begin to compare to that of a predatory fish like a jaguar cichlid. Plus they are more of a cold water fish, so their metabolism and growth rates are slower than those of tropical fish..;)

I would feed them like you normally would, and then right before you use them as feeders throw in some live/frozen foods so that the nutrition will be passed on to the predator!
