Again I return to the experts in this field...]v[ F K ers Know all....Is it possible to raise a bullshark to be kept in total fresh water? As they are known to breed in lake nicaragua which is fresh is it possible to breed a brackish bull shark in fresh water? does anyone keep any of the more predatory and agressive sharks? What would the recommended literage be for a mature specamin at about 8 foot? Being a brackish water species and often found in still brackish water what level of current would be suitable? this info seems hard to find on the net so I ask the experts....
Thanks in advance guys.

I would say that zoodiver would be the one to ask. As for as tank size I would guess something like 3000 square feet and 250,000 gal.

I remember a thread on this before.
It ended with, yes they can live in freshwater for a very long time if not forever, but the waste output is brought way way up, and its totally impractical to. Even a saltwater tank for a bullshark, wouldnt physically fit on most peoples property.

and if you have to ask, that means that you can't afford a biologist?

LOL thanks, If I could afford a biologist I wouldn't waste my time with web forums or exclaiming about peoples financial position in life for asking a simple question.

Here's what relatively little I understand on the situation.
Bullsharks can be kept in freshwater, but they produce far more waste while in freshwater to the point where it is actually easier to keep them as a saltwater fish.

I believe that goes for any true saltwater shark or ray, they urinate 10x as much to be able to live in a freshwater invironment, so you need a huge system to keep up with that or acclimate back to SW

So what about replicating the sharks natural cycle and keeping from heavy brackish through to fresh and back in a never ending cycle? Although I don't have a biologist on hand i am still fascinated by how this is or would be done, consider it my holy grail....

I dont know why you would want to do this, but zoodiver could give you a answer for that one. :D
