Bull shark

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe vincentwugwg vincentwugwg once posted a picture with a short story about a fellow fish keeper that kept one with a “platinum” red tail catfish. The picture is somewhere on this site.

Also if you’re thinking about keeping one then it’s best to stop now bud, not trying to be a jerk but it’ll help you to accept it earlier rather than later

Apart from the obvious size requirements, if their biology is like that of Dasyatis stingrays (one species lives in fresh water) then they will churn out huge amounts of ammonia to maintain osmotic balance. They usually retain higher concentrations of Urea (and it's salts) in the ocean so they don't lose water via osmosis. When in freshwater then have to release the majority of it so they don't absorb too much water (their cells will have significantly higher concentrations of salts). This creates obscene amounts of nitrogen in the water which is not ideal. I may be wrong but that's my understanding of it.

I was just watching shark week, bull sharks spawn in freshwater and are the only shark that can live in 100% freshwater. It is possible, but highly unlikely that you would be able to find a baby bull.

I don’t know if permits are required or anything about this site just a quick search on my part.
It looks like if you have the money and the drive to do it, it can be had.

I’ve read bad things about that site if I remember correctly.

And one could find a baby bull shark, I remember zoo diver talked about the possibility of obtaining one being possible

i’m not encouraging, but if one has a public aquarium size tank - it seems “joey slay em”
on youtube is plucking these out of the canals...
