Its either bulldog or bullnose I forgot but does anyone have one of these? It is very timid and doesnt really come out until its very low light. I have been trying to get pics but he wont come out and I do not want to chase him. I'm Trying!!!
I'm pretty sure these are also called "Rubberlip". I got one a few wks ago, he's still in quarrantine. Mine never comes out either, he's so tiny! About an inch long. They get about 6-7".
Thanks for the info guys!! Thats him. The only prob I see is he likes his water colder then the fish I have. What fish do you guys have them with and what temp are your tanks? What do you feed him besides the algae in your tank?
One of mine is in a coolwater setup with some white cloud mountain minnows, 2 hillstream loaches, and 3 hara jerdoni (dwarf asian cats). The other rubber pleco will join this tank as soon as I can catch him. He's currently in a 55g community tank.
And in terms of feeding, I'm not sure exactly what mine prefer besides algae. My tanks get a variety of flakes, spectrum cichlid pellets, bloodworms, plankton, etc. I haven't ever seen a rubber plec on the zucchini that I put in the tanks for my other plecs.
Mine is in with a few Opaline gouramies & Mollies. He doesnt like the water over 80F, so I leave the heater on 79F. The water stays at that temp all week, but gets up around 81F over weekends (no AC in building over weekend). It doesnt seem to bother him, although I never see him anyway... I have found that he comes out a little more often when the powerhead is on...
try shrimp pellets mine seem to go for that and yellow squash. They will sometimes eat the skin of zucinni. Mine are the spotted version 187a and they are some cool looking plecos. I have a good current on the tank with a undergravel jet system, along with a bunch of other plecos and I see them all alot at various times of the day. my temps are at 78F-80F they all do well with each other.
