Hey there! I picked up a tadpole a while back from my LFS. They got it with a big shipment of feeder fish somehow. They told me I could have it since they had no plans to sell it and would just let it die. I have successfully had it turn into a baby Bullfrog, and it has just a little bit of his tail left. My question is;

Currently, he is in an aquarium filled to the top with water (He is living with 2 baby oscars which leave him be) Does this little frog need any sort of land to get on? I read that they only leave the water in the wild to warm up from the sunlight. Since my aquarium is heated, does this mean he can live happily without being able to escape the water, therefor, living in water his entire life?

If not, I will look into making a more suitable habitat for it, or releasing it in the wild.

Also, I have a 125g aquarium, so I know it would have space. Thanks!

No 100% water habitat,no oscars with your baby frog and absolutley no releasing into the "wild" in a place where he´s not native:grinno: That could have terrible consequeses including transmiting non native diseases to your native amphibs, jerking the ecossistem and bringing more bad publicity to the hobby. I know is kind of harsh but these are really important points;) Insted you must get him into is own aquaterrarium with a proper filter , a weak heat lamp and possibly a aquarium heater. This last may not be necessary if the water temps dont fall bellow 24 degrees celcius. Get also some drift wood, aquatic plants and soft rocks. For food for now small gutloaded crickets and earthworms will do. Some guys have been able to get this critters to take turtle pellets like reptomin. Slugs ,shrimp, mealworms and with time even mice and small fish can be aded. Dont forget they eat only above water and must see some kind of movement in order to eat. Oh and keep your new frog´s tank away from windows where it can overheat. Good luck;):D

Oh and you must put him as soon as possible in a much lower level of water with some stuff for him to climb of ,like peaces of cork, or you are riscking him to drown. And dont forget that this guys are escape artists:D
