Anybody have experience with these catfish? Will have the opportunity to get one and i was wondering who had them here. What temp do they like? any information would be helpful

Yeah I have a pair of Yellow Bullheads. They're outside all year in my gamefish pond. You can keep them inside in an unheated aquarium I imagine.

Outstanding fish to keep. I started with a little 1/2 bullhead fry 2 years ago. Today my black bullhead is just over 12 inches and a great tank mate to several bichers and cichlids. He is a terror to both live and plastic plants though:)
Very rapid growth through year one.

I did not realize that a black bullhead would still have its molting at 12", or is this an old pict ?(it looks about 12" or so)

It was collected in your area?

OH! I love bullheads!! I have 4 spotted bullheads. 2 that are about... 6-7" that have been outside in my pond all year round. And I recently picked up 2 1" babies the other week. They are inside in their own tank till they get big enough to be with the others. I think they are great catfish to have, dont get all the big either. I had the 2 that were out in the pond in an unheated tank inside to begin with.

i got two blacks a few weeks ago at about 3/4". ones in a 12gal guppy tank and the other is in a 29gal. with a greenie and hap. livingstoni.. there both about 2 -3"...waiting for them to hit 4-5" so they can go in my pond.

The pic is about 6 months old, he still has his molting to this day. Growth wise since the 12 inch mark has mainly been in the girth of his head!!!!!!! I swear he could eat a baseball.
