How fast do they grow? I have seen a change in him in the 55gl compared to the 10gl and he is starting to grow!

My little Spotted Bullhead is doing well in the 55gl. The Pims leave him alone. He swims all over and chases my tetra! You can tell he is thinking about the future there. He doesnt do it all the time where I am worried, but when he does it is cute.

He was about 1" when i got him he is about 2" now or so. He is growing, and I can finally see it. His tummy is always round so he is fending for himself and getting food.

They grow fast when young, as you can see yourself then they slow down at about 8 inches

Thanks, so I can count on him packing on those 8" pretty fast...... The upgraded tank is going to be a reality soon lol I know he doesnt have to be too big before he wants tetra treats.

lol, I had to move one of mine away b/c he was ripping up my paroon sharks fins, and they where bigger then him. So I put him with my tsn which is more then twice his size.... and he bits his tail then runs off all the time...Might put him outside with some other ones. The rest of mine are pretty laid back. I love these kinds of fish.

As for growth, I got mine the very end of may and they were 3/4ths an inch, and now they are 3 1/2-4 inches. I think it also depends on the diet/foods and water quality. There is one at a small lfs that they keep in a plnted tank with tons of other fish, he was an inch if that when I saw him a month ago.. and he is still the same size, and very thin. I keep trying to get her to let me have him, but she always says no. One day.

Yeah this one was pretty damn skinny when i got him. There was nothing to his stomach and now is always nice and round and he is eating well. I wonder if they eat snails? When he was in the 10gl tank I feed the betta flake food and figured this guy was so small he would have to deal with that for a start and some bloodworms. I didnt feed her all that much, I targeted him with some blood worms a few times but he ended up with a pretty round belly. There are a lot of small snails in the 10gl and I noticed them thinning out.

I have them in the 55gl too and just wonder if he is eating snails too.

Glad I have other bullheaded lovers to share with. this is my first and I am really liking the guy. He is so cool to watch even though he is small.

yeah, that was my first catfish, well except when I was like 9 and had two channel cats in a 20... oops, But I gave them to a teacher with an outdoor pond. But when I started up again I was looking around at the fish stores awhile then I saw the two in the feeder tank sitting there in the corner. Now Im addicted to the feeder tanks when I go in there.

I take it, that is pretty common to find these guys among other shipments? Ghost shrimp (my case) and feeders etc?

Thanks for the elaboration :)
