i have a 12" bullhead with a jag and pike ichlid in a 120 gallon. The bullhead hides under a peice of slate, pretty much all day, Ive never seen him out with the lights on. Eventually, when my jag ans pike get bigger, i want to take pretty much all of the driftwood/rocks/plants out to allow more swimming space for my fish. I might just leave in a plant and a rock maybe, but I would be taking out the bullheads peice of slate. Now would the bullhead stress out without anything dark to hide under during the day?

I think the bullhead will fine, they are fairly hardy.

yea I just dont want him spazzing out time to time because he cant find any cover and then injuring himself, or running into a heater. Which he did last night just not hard enough to break it.

I think I would leave something for him to hide in or under just to feel safe. Mine used to hide face down, tail up behind a plant in the corner of the tank, lol.

He'd eventually either deal or freak... I say give him a little spot of his own...

yeah, they're not really a fish that likes to be out alot. Like he said, just give him his own spot. I would make it in the corner of the tank, so the rest have their room.

If you can give it a little hiding spot, that would be a good situation.

I would provide it with a place to hide, IMO if you're gonna keep cafish you gotta have a dark place for em, it's a rule in my book. Otherwise they can get stressed and that can compromise health and it may freak out and overall it will be less "happy" and isen't part of the goal of keeping fish to keep them happy? It dosen't need to be large, a chuck of large PVC pipe will do.

yea i think ill either leave in the little "cave" it has now, or just get a clay pot, I dunno yet I'll wait till my jag hits 10"
