Bullhead in a 55?

Would a yellow bullhead be able to live for life in a 55? Ive seen that in the wild they have grown to 18 inches but have never seen a tank raised one at that size. Other places Ive seen they max out at 8-10 inches. Ive got a 250 gallon indoor pond with a large mouth bass going in it that he could move to if he goes above 10 inches but would a 16 inch bass would eat him.

Not for life in a 55. But if you have a small pond to move him into, then a 70 with good filtration should work until he's ready to go. Best of luck with you bullhead.

No. I have one in a 55 gallon now because the 125 leaked. Even though the cat looks content, they do like to explore and swim. He is 12 inches long.

I have gotten multiple ones to sizes close to this...all in the past two years.

These things grow crazy fast, part of that might just be that they are in a 120...we just keep cycling them out as they get too big.

Doubtfull, at that size. Bullheads are pretty well armored with some nasty spines, and they are pretty wide bodied.
