You will never be able to guess what has officailly killed TWO of my bullheads now. Bullheads have been in a tank with Green Sun fish, Pike Cichlids, Oscars, Largemouth, Senegal Birchir, and a 12" Pleco. The freaking pleco killed them. The second one I do not understand, I put all my fish into a larger tank, and the pleco started messing with him. Just as the first one, he sucked the slime right off him. Without its protective slime the bullheads skin is exposed and very frail. So it got scratched just by rubbing on something, it probably got sick, and died. I no longer like pleco's.

Just excatly what tank size they are in right now? And what size are all of your fish? Is your tank recently brand new? I find it hard to believe that bullhead just laying let pleco sucking on them. Bullhead are very senstive to water quality, not from pleco. In fact bullhead often attacking each other and do fine.

They are in a 75 gal with a green sunfish, tank is newish but had other stuff in it before and cycled for a couple weeks. The bullhead didnt just sit there. The pleco literally chased it around. I don't know why he started doing it in the new tank, with algae pellets in the tank.

Yup, I learned not to like pleco's awhile ago... mine was doing that to my Oscars and Big cats too... Only plec I have now is a bristlenose, she leaves everyone alone.

Ive seen this before as well. I had a pleco once that was impossible to satisfy its hunger. I gave it fresh green veggies, algea wafers, and it kept my glass sparkling clean. It would even turn upside down and take floating pellets off the surface. Even after all that it would chase my cichlids almost constantly. I think it might have had an internal parasite or something like tapeworm that made it hungry all the time. Never found out.

Wish I had known all this before. Oh well, good thing I got the cats for free. The weird thing is that they got along fine in a smaller tank, and then went crazy in a new tank? What the heck, weird pleco. I have him in a 35 all by himself now. Its way to small of a tank for him, but he does not really swim anyway so...I don't know anyone wanna buy a 12" pleco?
