I was thinking of putting in a pond to keep my bullhead in, but wasn't sure if this would work for one reason or another.
Has anyone kept bullheads/catfish in a pond? (specificly an 8'-10')

If I were to do this what would I need?

Also any tips would be great even if you have never done this.

I have kept a couple yellow bullhead in a 300 gallon outdoor pond. They just need lots of plants and hiding places. Mine went from 1" to 8" in one summer and the only thing they had to eat was the leftovers from my koi.

Bullheads in a pond would be fine,I had mine in my 1200 Gal pond for 10 years, from 3" to 15", Black Bullheads of course. As for food leftovers or worms, sinking pellets is the best bet. If my catfish made it I'm sure yours will. Catfish are a hardy fish, especially wild caught ones do best in ponds.

I've got an Albino Channel that does just fine. He started out at 2-3" in the fall of 08'. He is now 12" and comes out all the time, eats pellets w/the goldfish. I also feed him some cut market shimp a couple of times a week at night. Bullheads would be fine year round as well.

awsome! mine is a brown I think so from what I've heard they can get BIG, I'm thinking mine won't get over 18" hopefully. He's about 8"-10" now and was a rescue from a fishing trap. The girl I got him from said he had grown almost 3" in a 10g in about 2 months from when she originaly got him.
As for food, I think I'm gonna go in the creek behind my house and just catch minows so that he can get a good start on his growth and development. ;)

Maybe perhaps try to breed the minnows? in a breeder tank, The creek will work for a while, but breeding food is a fun project! Perhaps toss in another native,a LMB.
