Something is beating up one of my 12'' snook, but leaves the other one alone.
Anyone have an idea on whats doing it?
Tankmates include...
15'' ornate bichir
14'' clown knife (He's my guess...)
16'' and 18'' gar (not the gar...They do more than tear fins when they bite)
10'' JD (never shown any agression)
12'' snook (Different, non beat up one)

probly the other snook..

I vote clown knife as well.I just had to get rid of mine because someone was being a bully in my tank but only when I wasn't looking, mostly at night but also sometimes just when I wasn't around. There were ripped fins and missing scales and whatnot...

one day I caught the knife chasing things around and biting them pretty hard.after that I did spy action on him by peeking through the stair rail so he couldn't see me and sure enough it was him.... I caught him quite a few times but he never did it if someone was in the room

one of the fish he was doing it to was a large snook.weird thing is he tried to spook em by charging at em but he only bit them if they ran....if they stood their ground they didn't get bit.....my snook ran every time :D

reminded me of how some dogs are fine with cats unless the cat bolts.......then its on.

Self inflicted. Probably due to suicidal tendency with displeasure of tankmates and its environment.

Install a camera and leave the room to further investigate and confirm.

Clown Knife's become big jerks when the lights go out..

but if the other snook is perfectly healthy and they aren't a pair, it could be that too.. my snooks always beg, but if I sit in front of the tank for a while they start to chase each other.
