We got some bullrout, aka freshwater lionfish to some people, at my work and I've been contemplating one in my 210. I've read contradictory things about whether or not they require a saline environment to thrive. The tank is a hardwater setup, so salinity is my only concern.
Thanks!

I think there are 2 species I would definitely try to find out which one you have because one of them require Saltwater atleast Brackish if I remember right.
Years ago remember getting them from a distributor who supplied the pet department I worked in.
B. trispinosus is the species.I think there are 2 species I would definitely try to find out which one you have because one of them require Saltwater atleast Brackish if I remember right.
Consensus seems to be a no go from further reading of fishbase, etc.B. trispinosus is the species.
As pets or food? Some of the Asian supermarkets around here sell them live.....or,a similar looking species if not that same one.
Food and while I can be pretty open minded when it comes to trying new dishes I think I would pass on them lol.As pets or food?
You sure you're not mixing them up with marbled gobies?Food and while I can be pretty open minded when it comes to trying new dishes I think I would pass on them lol.
