anyone ever give the tank bully a time out in a breeders pen???
I find that if i do it gives my tank bully a reality check and it lets him know I'M in charge lol

I really like to do this when adding a new fish to the tank it seems to give the new guy a better chance of blending in

I've done it and it seems to work for awhile like a week or so, but then they were right back to being a bully... fed him to my cichlids, he's no bully anymore :)

yeah i've done this before too lol

I had a mean Midas that had his spot under some driftwood. A few times I locked him in where he could not escape. Kept him in there for a week at a time. He still tried to bite at the other fish who would swim near the wood. He was a beautiful fish. Kept him as long as I could. But eventually had to rehome him to the LFS.

Yea it's never a forever fix but it will give your new addition to the
Tank a better chance of becoming One of the guys during the first day
Or so at least that's my findings

I do this, but I also rearrange the tank and do large water change before putting the aggressor back into the tank. I've had to do this every time I introduced a new fish to my male jack's tank. It works great.

I also agree on the rearranging the tank it maks it like a new environment that no one fish has a claim to:popcorn:

Same here. Same fish. Male jack. Punk!

I use my qt tank in my garage. Redecorate and it works for awhile.

I did this once when my Jd was smaller. I had a jewel that absolutely terrorized him almost to death. I put the jewel in time out for about a week. Rearranged the tank, put the jewel back in and my jack had obviously had enough because I found him dragging the dead jewel around the tank within an hour.....total role reversal

So now I'm always ready for the bully to become lunch and vice versa.
