Hi

I have a bumble bee grouper that I've been growing out in a 75g Brackish tank 1.015 specific gravity
it grew normally from 3" to now 12". Fed him chopped up tilapia fillet. Very chubby and great personality. Suddenly, it lost its ability to float and stopped eating.
I've heard that overfeeding leads to the swim bladder collapsing. Anyway, how do i heal it?
It has stopped eating for almost two weeks now. I've heard feeding peas might work but too late now since it wont eat anything ( not even with garlic juice on it).
I've used PraziPro, Pimafix, Melafix, and BiFuran and it doesn't seem like any of them are doing anything.
Any suggestion? I just want to save it, so even if there arent any medication, is there any organization around SFbay area that might take in the fish and save it?
help D:

Please and thank you!!!!

At about the size grouper you have, they need to be moved to full salt water. This may be the problem. I realize they are sold as a fresh/brackish species, but that is a lot of bull.... As a young adult they move into the ocean and lose tolerance for anything but full seawater.
They also get the size of a small car.

Don't want to start another heated discussion about these groupers needing full salt at certain size. But is it really due to salt level that caused the bladder to completely become functionless ? And more salt will help it regain the ability to float

Anyway , in raising the salinity little by iittle and it doesnt seem
To be helping ... Any other help ?

Try an Epsom salt bath. Add 1 Tbsp per gallon of Epsom Salt to some tank water in suitable container and make sure its desolved.

Put the fish in the Epsom Salt bath for 15-20 minutes. Monitor the fish during this time if it's constapation this should do the trick. Good luck. I don't have much experiance with salt water fish. Sorry.

Hows the fish doing?:(

Add some crushed coral to raise pH, see if it helps. pH caused problem more than salinity.
