The lighting in that tanks sucks. In the vid you can see them better when he swimms under the lights and with out the glare. They are starting to show more as he grows... at one point he was all black. His moods also dictate if they turn lime green yellow or gold. Most of the time he is dark brown with dark gold bands

Im on the hunt for an Oscar right now. I would take on a BB if I could find one local for a decent price but right now I see only Rapps has them and they are a bit pricy. I have been considering a WC Astronotus crassipinnis also, which I can get for pretty reasonable online from The Wet Spot.
I too am curious I really hope the gold in his bars continues to develop... I got mine from rapps not sure where u live but I met up with jeff to avoid the shipping cost
