I have seen a bunch of different cichlids with the bump growing from their head and was wondering if all types of them grow that or just certain species? I have a JD and was wondering if he will grow that? If so is it just when they grow older or what?

there are many species that grow a nuchal hump. it'd be a long list to try and list all the species that grow them but for the most part they are paratheraps, vieja, cryptoheros/astatheros and amphilophus. Also dovii, motaguensis, umbriferum, peacock bass....

There are many others but JD is not one of them. :)

yeah sorry JD is not a species that grows nuchal humps, but with species that do grow them they are a status symbol that comes with age and dominance in the tank

best ones for a 'bump' (nucal hump) are the flowerhorn species

and JD is not one of them, try get a midas if you want, they grow a nucal hump and are very, very nice and they should be easy to find in America
