I'm not sure how many fans of tortoises there are on this forum but I was trying to see if anyone here ever had one of these guys?

I'm thinking of ordering one off of Turtle Source but I'm terribly indecisive and can't settle on either a Rhino Iguana or a Burmese Black Mountain Tortoise.

Any thoughts?

What suits more your life style? That is one of my dream toises, very cool animals:D Both animals are more or less mached in dificulty level. Dont forget male rhinos in breeding seazon can have sudden mood changes for the way worse;) And dont forget to reserch deeply on them

I have a good understanding of their basic care, so that's not an issue.

I guess the tortoise would be a much suitable match for me, since I'll be getting an Congo Grey parrot and I already have a cat at home. Not sure how those two will get along as it is lol. The parrot will probably freak out the little iggy... or vise versa. :uhoh:

Good thinking. Beware that thouse would also put danger to a small toise. Only with the toise considerably large thouse can start to interact with it. Dont forget you will need a half beedroom size enclosure to house any of thouse confortably plus outdoor space if posible;)

the cat has proven to be very friendly, but she has an obsession with bird feathers.... I found that out when I bought her a stick toy with feathers tied at the end.

but as far as dealing with an actual living animal, she's very cautious and mellow... at least that's what happened when she met my blue tailed monitor and my ball pythons.

so I'm very confident the cat will leave the tortoise alone.

as for the bird, we'll just have to see. it's still a baby but it should be weaned and ready to come home by mid-June.

if anyone has and want to share their personal experiences on the tortoise, please do.

we've kept cb babies in rubbermaid tubs with a inch or so of water on one side, the tubs where giving a slight incline, and lots of spagnhum moss for hididng. They eat lots of fruits and veggies, and trout chow. We got our hatchlings from vic morgan. Marc Cantos is a great guy, and i'm more than sure he'll help you out with any issues or concerns you might have
