I have have seen monstrous Burmese pythons, and reticulated pythons. There were many where I used to live in the south of Bangkok. Incredible things, as thick as my waist. They can climb up the side of a house in seconds with looping coils.

Don't get caught, don't get eaten.

A zoo where I worked had a 16 foot female. They had a bunch of us take her out and hold her (learning experience for us and fun for the supervisors to watch us struggle). When you’re on the tail end and she’s wrapping around just to grab on to something, not even trying to kill you, you can feel how strong that snake is. I’ve worked with plenty of dangerous animals, but that was by far one of the scariest encounters I’ve had.
As much as I’d love to live somewhere tropical, I’m more than happy to live where the most dangerous snake I’d regularly encounter is a garter.

I wonder if those pythons are hunted for their meat, seems like they'd be an almost inexhaustible source of food for a lot of captive animals in zoos and whatnot.
