Has anyone intentionally burned coral before? I have some dead coral, been dried for 3 years. I read on a reef forum that boiling coral can be extremely deadly as it can release some very harmful chemicals. So I’m wondering if anyone’s ever burned it either in order to kill parasites, algea, or to just turn it black.

If you are talking about hard coral skeletons once all the flesh has gone you can dry them and bleach them. I have a few from my reefing days around somewhere.
