i have about a 4 inch feather fin, if hes not by the heater hes up-side-down under the lip of my filter.. i went his side of the tank this morning and it looks like he has got burnt... he has about 2-3 places on his belly that are white where his skin use to be... he still likes to stay close to the heater,i was wondering if he is getting burnt wouldn't he have enough sense to move??:screwy:
or is there a chance i might have another fish attacking him??

Sounds like burns but can you get a pic of it as that would help to see also might be an idea to put a heater cover on so no one can burn them selfs and if it white and dose not look infected may be an idea to treat with melafix to help heal the wound

Heater cover works great. other fish get on heater when it's off and don't have the brains to leave when it turns on. Keep up with the water changes. Nothing heals better than clean water.

My guess is its the other fish biting at him. Knifes need a place to hide. Some sleep vertical & some sleep horizontal so my suggestion is to put a tube in there also some sort of vertical shelter. He's hanging out in those strange places because he has no other place to call his own. They're nocturnal and are sitting ducks during the day with no place to hide. Especially if they're new. Good luck with him, they're great fish.
