Behind you
can someone give me an idea what's the average growth rate of this guys? i'm looking to buy a colony of them ranging from 2" to 3".

so that makes it approximately around an inch every couple of months or so?

fry to first year.
males 5-6 inch.
females 4-5.

power grown can do more.
poor conditions much less.

frontosa growth spurt is first 6 months, after that they slow down.
after the first year males can do about 1 inch a year, but usually much less, females often stop growing once they hit 2 years as all energy is spent on eggs.

yes, i bought my little ones from lfs, they were like 2" size, now its been 3 years they r 6", yes they slow groving cichlids, none of them died or so, strong fish too,

Some of you may remember some of these pix from another site a couple years ago, it was one of the most viewed topics there.
It shows the growth of one of my mpimbwe spawns over time.
not the best pix, but here you go..

The spawn was on August 26, 2005. 23 fry.
I stripped on Labor day, September 5, 2005.

Size goals:

5-6 inches 13 months post spawn. (12 months at normal release date/age).
3-4 inches at 7 months PS (really 6 months old).
2+ inches at 4 months PS (really 3 months old).
1.25 inch (sale size) at 2 months.
