will a butis butis eat a fiddler crab? i am going to be getting a butis butis soon and i can't find anything that say he will eat my fiddler crab but i have not read anything that says he will not. any ideas?

Well obviously Butis Butis do have a large mouth that screams "I'm a predator!"

thank you for the reply. yes he does, and he most certainly is a predator. but will it hunt for fiddler crabs? with legs and claws they are a decent size. I've just never heard of them ripping apart someones fiddler crab. but like you said it is a predator so it might. i was hoping someone would have some personal experience to share with me.

If a fish thinks something fits in its mouth or can be easily broken down to size, the object in question will end up in its mouth, this may as well be one of the laws of fishkeeping

the point of an ambush is to catch the prey off guard so that it doesn't have to fight, thats how so many ambush predators can catch dangerous animals. I can guarentee you that if crab is smaller then the butis it will get attacked eventually, plus butis grow almost 4-5 inches long so you might just have a baby right now in which case the crab will dissappear once it bulks up a bit
