Is it normal for Butis Butis to go somewhat transparent?

I turned the light on for a little while last night to see the tank (the light was off for a few hours previously) and both Butis Butis were out and about, but when the light came back on I noticed the larger one was transparent, his color just disappeared and I could see through him almost like he was a glass cat.

This morning I looked and his color was back and he's acting normal. He ate with no issues. I don't remember reading about this when I was looking them up before I got them.

Anyone else with Butis butis ever notice anything like this?

Absolutely! Mine turned a transparent alabaster last week. They can change very dramatically. Mine has become one of my very favorite fish because the pattrns and colors can be both subtle and profound and change instantaneously. Good luck with you butis butis!

PS. I didn't find a lot of information on mine until I looked under alligator fish. Also look uder crazy fish, sleeper gudgeon, and there are others, too, you'll see as you look up these names.
