Would a buttakoferi and a dovii work together in a 120 gallon tank? Just wondering because I saw one at a LFS and it caught my eye...I really doubt it would because my male and female dovii are demons but I just wanted to play devil's advocate and see if these three could work there...

I could not have tank mates in with my Jags in a 120G, the Jags was only 6 and 7inches so thats

well mine worked for several months with the dovii as boss but then the butti snapped and killed the dovii male.
the fish were ...dovii 13 inches, butti 16 inches. shocked me. with a pair of dovii you might be okay but as they grow you will need a bigger home for them i think.

No both are really really mean and the Dovii would be too large for a 120 gallon-usually if you want to mix cichlids it is good to have atleast 4 so that the aggression is spread out-why not try something else-
1. Black Belt
2. Cuban
3. Salvini
4. Texas Escondido
that might work in a 120 gallon. Unless you want only one fish I would stay away from Jag RT Dovii Umbee Buttikefori and even Trimac

A single Dovii will be O.K. in a 120. Especially a female. But a butta will get larger than the female and rip her to schreds.
Ok I was just curious I don't think I will get the butta...unless I get a large enough tank to house all of them comfortably
