I want to know if anyone has tried multiple Mbuna as tank mates for a Buttekoferi before?
I love my Buttekoferi and originally had him in with a red devil and Texas Cichlid of similar size. He exerted his dominance over them and the Texas and red devil never readily swam around the aquarium. They were just plain scared of the Buttekoferi.
I sold the Texas and devil and temporarily moved the buttie to a separate 65 gallon tank by himself while I set up a Mbuna 125 tank.
After the 125 cycled I put my Buttekoferi in with his new smaller and quicker tank mates. It's been about a month and so far so good. He occasionally Chase's a Mbuna here and there but most of the time he's very Happy swimming with the Mbuna.
Most people say you can't keep a Buttekoferi with anything. But this combination of smaller quick tough tank mates with plenty of rocks cover seems like a winning combination to me.
Has anyone tried this before and what was your success or failure?
