I took my daughter to the Butterfly Pavilion today. Unfortunately, I used my point and shoot because my wife had her DSLR at work.

They had a bunch of other bugs, but I couldn't really get any good pics. Here are some Madagascar Hissing Cockaroaches:

Still good pics. The colors on the first one are amazing! It's a shame those gigantic blue morphs always have their wings closed. It's impossible to get in flight shots of them.

Thanks. Yeah, a lot of them have great colors.

wow what a assortment of butterflies...very nice.

butterflies and moths give me the creeps, lol. I like going to butterfly pavilion for the tarantulas. I wish they had Luna moths there. Those are cool.

lol. Maybe you had a traumatic experience when you were little or something. I didn't get to look at the tarantulas much because there were like 2 fieldtrips there and kids running everywhere:irked:.

geez those are impressive for a point and shoot. what camera were you using?

Thanks. They were easy subjects since most of them just sat there. I used a Nikon Coolpix.

Great pics!

One side note, those aren't Madagascar hissing roaches. They look like Guyana orange spotted roaches. I only say this because I have a 1000+ of them in a 10 gallon aquarium at home. I breed them and feed them to all my lizards and fish. :D

Thanks for the correction. There was another type of roach next to the ones pictured, so the other ones must have been the Madagascar type.
