i know this might sound stupid but im gona ask ne way. hillstreams require high oxygen levels because they come from fast flowing rivers that cause a great deal of oxygen to be dissolved into the water. could it be possible that hillys do not so much need fast water movement but simply high oxygen levels? for example, what if someone set up a tank with a number of airstones and attached them to the kind of devices planted aquariums use to diffuse CO2 (bubble ladder systems or just plain old spray canisters). in other words, get the oxygen level up to where a river tank would be without an actual current, except for maybe the filter itself. :WHOA: (omg, no he didnt! no he did not just ask a silly question like that because he loves hillys so much but cant have a river tank right now so he's trying to find another way to keep them responsibly, omg, i cant believe he just asked that. :D  :banhim:) .........has anyone ever tried this? do yall think it might work?

Hillstream loaches have that body shape meant to fight off the fast flowing currents. That's their lifestyle of comfort. I would advise against depriving them of the currents that makes them much happier than without it.
