Either live or frozen and soaked in a vitamin supplement brine shrimp are the best way to illicit a feeding response. The problem is that the brine shrimp don't have any nutritional value. But it may be a good idea to do it just to get them used to taking a food from you. Mysis shrimp is a much better choice than Brine shrimp, but should still be soaked in a vitamin supplement frequently. After they get adjusted to taking these things you can move on to other stuff like flakes, other frozen stuff, and most importantly of all NLS(New LIfe Spectrum) Pellets.

Get blackworms.

They go crazy for live blackworms, and after a couple feedings, start mixing in other stuff. IE frozen vitamin enriched mysis.

He will get the idea.

I got both butterfly fish three days ago and their still not eating. My lfs only offers live blood worms. So instead i got arcti pods because staff assured me they would eat this and still no go. I saw a little bit of scratching so i also bought a cleaner wrasse. I gave the butterflys a fresh water bath for three to four minutes and the scratching went away but still not eating. Any other suggestions perhaps. I was thinking the loss of appetite might be ick or something but they dont seem to be scratching and the wrasse isnt trying to clean them

Every where i check online i see that the copperband is for experienced or expert so i know i messed up there because i just started my tank a year ago. I also so the same thing with the cleaner wrasse after i got him so hopefully all goes well. I wish the owner told me that these guys are touchy because he knows im kinda new to salt but i should have researched first.

Blackworms dude...never seen them refuse blackworms. If that doesnt work, your fish prolly has something wrong with it.

Remember that sometimes it can take a fish awhile to get hungry enough or comfortable enough to want to eat in the aquarium setting.

I would be more concerned about getting the cleaner wrasse to eat than the copperbanded.

Yup...I saw some out in LA that were trained onto NLS...pretty cool.

I would recommend that you try to take the wrasse back to the LFS after the parasites are gone. (I am assuming they are already.)

Use a scarlet cleaner shrimp for further natural parasite control.

I have a niger trigger in the tank too so i dont think that would work. But your right ill bring him back because i dont want it to die.

I have had triggers try to get cleaned, but you want the shrimp in the tank before you add the triggers.

And usually sooner or later they still get to them.

How is the copperbanded...did you try blackworms yet?
