Butti and Redhead Cichlid

A short video of my Tilapia and Redhead. I need to get them a bigger tank soon but enjoy. They're doing great.
 
Lookin good. How big is your syns? Looks same size as mine. Does your butti give you any aggression problems yet? Ive thought about adding my butti to my vieja tank but scared he will whoop up on my syns or be killed by my zonatum thats about 12". What size tank are you gonna move them to? Keep up the good work with them, they seem very healthy.

Right now they're in a 55gal. I want to move them in a 150 by december. My butti is about 4in long but he's tall and wide and it makes him look bigger, he's aggressive but he doesn't give me any problems. If he ever outgrows my syn then we may have issues but as of right now he just likes to swim, eat, look pretty, and occasionally challenge the Syn. The Syn is about 6 inches and is the boss between the two. I love him to death, he's so much fun watch and coloring up nicely. I'm gonna get him some better food to help enhance his color.
 
Are you getting the standard 6'x2'? They'll love it, are you adding anything else? Your butti does look bigger, mines about 5" and my syns is a least 6". My vieja's are in a 135 right now. Its funny mine will also be moving to my 150 once its cleared out.

I don't think I'll get the standard. I want a tank that's longer than it is tall. I hope my Butti stays the way he is now. He'll have to go if he gets overly aggressive

Yes they are very interactive with you especially when they get larger. The bigger my guys gets the more interactive he becomes. I hate to clean the tank now because he always find a way to make me drink aquarium water. He's one of my favorite fish ever.
 
Had to get rid of my years ago killed a Trimac and a Red Devil in my 240 gallon. If I ever do get one again (which I want to) it will be when I my 1032 gallon pond is set and established. IMHO one of the more nasty cichlids out there.
 
I had to get rid of my Butti recently. I kept them with Vieja and CLs in A 6x2x2. Mine was really cool, but the aggression was escalating very fast and I got rid of it before I had tank genocide on my hands.
