I have a midas and a red devil in a 130 gallon (6' long) the red devil is maybe 6 inchs and the midas is around 8 inchs. Could i put my butti in there with them he is close to 5 inchs? Do you guys think they will all be alright in there once they all grow out? I also plan on putting a south american pike cichlid not sure which kind just know it gets around 10 inchs and its 7 inchs long now (I have the pike and tilapia in a 55 gallon now and they dont really bother each other).

what are the tempermants of the fish , butti are known to cause chaos and rd and midas are real aggressive , i would try it but i do not see it lasting long term , but may last for a while , so it would make sure the hiding space and maybe some driftwood or something to block there sight in the tank , i think the pike should be alright as long as u have hiding spots for him , so try the butti but beware and pay close attention and you may have to separate

yea i got driftwood in there but im proably gonna add more. so far the butti doesnt seem all that agressive towards the pike or the pleco in the tank but i hear they can snap anytime. As for the midas and red devil they get along with each other and the 2 plecos in the tank. The only thing im hoping is that the midas and red devil dont have more babies. They had frys in august but its been 3 months and they dont really seem to follow each other around as befor. I guess ill really see their temperement when i put them all together lol.

Butti's, midas, and RD's can all be very intolerant of tankmates. With all all the fish you named that tank is going to get small quickly. If you decide to try it be watchful for trouble. Try moving the decour before adding the butti to force the other to re-establish their territories. GL!

agreed 100%, just rearange the tank.

i tried it but after 7 days the tilapia was attacking the red devil and the red devil was just constently hiding so i took the butti out and put em in a 55 gallon. Im gonna keep him alone or with maybe a pleco. The midas was like 3 times his size and wouldnt even attack him when he was all up in his territory that butti was ruling the tank at like 4 inchs. I added a jaguar cichlid and a pike cichlid to the red devil midas tank. The jaguar is a baby still about 2 inchs but they dont seem to bother him. Hope they all get along in the long run. Two questiona.

Will the 55 gallon tank be too small for my butti when it reachs full grown?
The tanks is 48 inchs long by 12.5 and 20 in height.
Do buttis prefer lots of open space or more caves?
