I was wondering about adding a same size or a tad bigger Tilapia Buttifokeri to my 100g. I have a pair of black convicts along with some others, and since they do look similar, will they fight, and when the butti gets bigger, will i have to remove the black convicts because of same coloration?

Oh, ok, with that said Buttis may not be for me, thanks

Again with fish it is somewhat trial and error. Different fish different results. My friend has a very large Butterkofi and added baby Argenteas with no problems. If you decide to go that route just have a plan B.

i had a butti in with all my other cichlids for about 3 years and he was full grown and didnt bother anyone until one day he just decided to start pushing around the other fish so i got rid of him before any damage occured. my friends butti was a mean little bugger from the get go.

i have a butti,12",he only gets aggressive with fish 5 or 6" plus in size, growing argenteas,gt and a texas with him,hes killed angels, trimac, blackbelt, red head, all when they got to that size.
i wouldnt be worried about the cons.

Well, i've also got a 6" jag, think the butti might fight with him? Btw, If i do get a butti, he'd be in the neighborhood of 3.5"

the butti will be mean. if you're wanting to mix anything with it I just wouldn't. Results may vary but usually they're aggressive as hell.

Yea.. that is true all depends on the individual..

if you try the jag/butti mix try females. My female jag was the only larger fish mine has allowed in his 100gal.
the cons will be fine. If you get a pair they will actively be far more aggressive than the butti will.
if you get 2 larger ones paired, they will relentlessly attack everything in your tank. They are the true terrors
