buttikoferi and oscars

I have kept both before many years ago, but never together.
I have been sucked back into the hobby got myself a 480litre 5ft tank and today got 2xbuttikoferi and 2xoscars.
The local fishstore said I could have 5or 6 adults but reading others on various websites it seems not likely.
They are all tiny at present and I would like to add some tinfoil barbs which I was told would be ok, or to be honest was told to give it a try and see what happens , any advice appreciated

yeah sorry but this is another case of the lfs telling you crap info to make a couple bucks, i buttikoferi are very aggressive while oscars are not and highly doubt that adults of those two can be kept together needless to say 5-6is out of the question. also tinfoil barbs get pretty much the same size as oscars so i would say you could maybe do one or 2 with the cichlids, and choose whether you want the oscars OR the buttis
