Buttikoferi Feeding

What is the best to feed a 3" buttikoferi? I'm feeding him floating pellets now. Anyone think he could eat a rosie? I threw one in to see.

i wouldn't feed it rosies at all, sure it would eat it, but it is far from an ideal food

Buttis are snail eaters in the wild, so unless that rosey is a rosey-red snail I wouldn't bother. The butti may eat it, but it wouldn't be very natural or worth the effort.

Stick to a premium pellet and perhaps some frozen inverts if you feel the need for variety.

Mine wont even get close to those pellets. He will only eat frozen brine shrimp or cheap flake food. Is he just spoiled on the shrimp or is there a trick to getting him to eat the pellets i got or some of the bugs (earthworms, spiders, ants, etc)? My buddies dovii destroys anything even close to the top of the water and my butti (whose also quite a bit larger 6" or so) will just lazily stroll to his food.

Cut back on it's feeding. My Butti was a food snob when I first got him. I found that reducing his feeding helped a lot. Now he eats anything that hits the water including pellets which are a staple. Good luck

My butti loves some romaine lettuce on a clip...he'll graze on it for days.

mine eats everything.... but I would say a good pellet and some brine or market shrimp...
