Hi I was doing some reading and I was wondering if a small 1-2" T. buttikoferi could stay long term in a 53gal being well 48x16x16 aquarium or even for life? The aquarium would be over filtered and the fish would live there solo. What do you guys think?

I know I asked for your advice with my loisellei pair living perm in a 75gal and you guys said no at least a 100gal and well now there both in a 135gal. So I am putting your advice to good use. Just need some more. This tank and fish is for my mom and ill be the one caring for it.

Thanks in advance.

itd work for probably a pretty good amount of time.
until you get tired of seeing two giant piles of gravel in the middle almost to the water line of such a small tank and the butti constantly swimming back and forth in it.

Well kinda hoping it would work for maybe 6-10 months then I could prob upgrade to a 75gal. Also I know about the mound they make. My mom had one before and boy did it love to dig.
