Hi everyone, I recently purchased Buttikoferis accidently, I confused them with the Siamese Tigerfish (the shopkeeper wasnt of much help). Of course once I got them, I found out exactly how aggressive they are known to be. My question is simple, I have five of them between 3"-4", will the high number result in lowering their aggression in any way? (I know more then 5 arowanas in a tank results in this). They are quite happy at the moment, with no signs of above ordinary aggression in the tank.

Tank info:
250gallon, that houses the following:
7 Oscars 9"-10"
5 Pearlscale Cichlid (Green Texas) 6"-9"
3 Green Terrors 4"-9"

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Buttikoferi are some tough fish... depending on temperament they can most definitely take out a green terror twice their size(i've seen it) and it killed off the pike that was bout 2 inces longer. i've never seen multiple ones kept and don't know how a breeding pair would act(u might end up with a breeding pair if you keep multiple) your tank is huge so you might be good with a lot of hiding places for every one to claim... don't know too much about the breed except what i have seen. all fish have different personalities, so if your home a lot take a chance and keep an eye on them. GOOD LUCK! Buttikoferi are pretty fish!

I have found that having a higher concentration of cichlids seems to keep aggression in check as opposed to only having 2 or 3 fish. This could just be a coincidence though, so don't take my word for it

you will be okay now..but once a dominate male or a pair has developed everything would go crazy get rid of most of them. keep one or two in there. I would keep a pair they are amasing parents.
