hey! I got 1 button polyp head free in my live rock...its grown quite alot! it was about 2mm now its about 1cm round. i've just noticed something is growing out of it...like another button?

I was wondering if this is normal? If this one grows will that one make another one? How do they reproduce?

I've reserched and it says about the button splitting but it hasn't split it's sort of coming out of the side of it.

Also the bit of rock it come on is quite small put i placed it on a big rock so will it spread onto the big rock?

Stupid noob questions but knowledge is power. :D

Yes, this is perfectly normal reproduction....If anything, it shows you have stable water chemisty in the tank...It will spread onto more rock if it needs as it grows / buds....

Its all cool....And this is not a stupid question, in fact, far from it....

Got pix of the coral?

Doesn't look like an aptasia. Can you get a closer pic of it?

Could be an aiptasia cos the tendrils look fairly long, if it is i suggest you get some lemon juice, and boiling water and inject it with it before they spread. Or if you want a more natural alternative you can get a true Peppermint Shrimp... Unless you like them of course? But they may sting you or your fish if your not careful.

Before you go off killing it, let's get a proper ID.
