I got the Fluval FX5 for my 75G tank and I was thinking of the easiest way to do water change. If I buy a 25' tubing, which is enough to connects from the filter to the bathroom, and connect it to the 'OUT', have the FX5 on and start dumping water into the other end, which goes into the toilet. Then, to refill the tank, simply switch the 'IN' and the 'OUT' so that the FX5 pumps the water from the bathroom into the tank. That way, I don't have to make several trips with buckets full of water. I know water change for a 75G isn't much, but imagine if you do it for a monster tank. Has anyone tried this?

I drain my 210g with my FX5 using a garden hose connected to spare valve connector but fill with python from kitchen faucet. I don't know about filling from it.

If you fill in that method you'll pumping chlorinated water directly into your filter prob not good for benificial bacteria

It would be a bit harder to pump water into the tank but I can have 2 5G buckets with de-chlorinator added, then refill and switch between the 2 buckets.

I've been doing it this way too... I just add prime in the tank while filling with water.
