Hi everyone, I am currently contemplating my options for a new tank. I currently have a 29 gallon and wanted to get something larger. I have narrowed it down to two tanks that I have found on craigslist and I need some help in making my final decision and I thought of nothing better than asking for help here since your guys are the experts. I found 2 tanks, both of which are bow front tanks. I have always wanted a bow front. And both come as complete set-ups with stand, filters, heaters, hoods (w/light and lids), rocks, decorations, etc. I have already sent offers out on both and have worked down the prices as far as the sellers will go. The first one is a 55 gallon which the guy would sell to me for $275 for everything. He says the tank is worth over $1000 retail. The second tank is a 75 gallon, also a bow front, and comes with stand, 2 canister filters, hang on back filters, heater, hood (w/light and lids), rocks decorations, etc., so all of the necessary elements that are needed to start it up just as the 55 has as well. I have pictures below of the two tanks. The first one is the 55 gallon bowfront with the black stand and the the second one is the 75 gallon bowfront with the oak stand. (NOTE: The picture of the 75 gallon is not the actual tank. I accidentally deleted the email that had the picture that the seller sent but that is what the actual tank looks like and is the same one.) Which one would you get? Which one do you think is the better deal? Is there something special about the 55 for which I should grab it, like is it great brand (retail $1000)? I'd prefer to have cichlids, which the 75 would seem a lot better for but is there something about the 55 i'm missing. It looks like a great tank and is hard to pass up on if it's that expensive/high of quality. Please let me know. I need to make a decision. Thanks you guys...

Also, I forgot to mention....For the 75 gallon, the lowest price I could get that tank down to was $250. The 55 gallon is $275. Thanks.

Is this a trick question?

Get the 75 gallon of course! You get an entire setup for less than the 55 gallon; no brainer!

Is the finish an issue? Is the 55g black and the 75g oak and you have a preference?

If the finish is not an issue the 75g is the better choice. It will allow you a much larger selection of fish choices.

Pick up the 75g and while your up to give that room a new look with a larger tank, get ride of that wall paper.

In three months, you'll be hunting for a 125 gallon anyway, so get the 75g for now.
