Hello all, at one of my lfs they have a few 1-1/2" Senegal bichirs.
i do really like them and was wondering what your opinions are towards keeping them in a 29g tank as a growout until they are large enough to go into a 90g oscar tank.
the 29g houses 1 sailfin molly(2"), one dwarf gourami( 1 1/2"), and 3 corydoras (1 1/2 ").
a friend of mine is taking the cory's and the molly in the next couple of days.
would the 29 be adequate as a growout, and at which size would it be ok to put into the 90g?
theres 2 oscars about 5-6" in the 90g, the tank is filtered by 2 AC110's and a Rena XP3.Small smooth gravel(epoxy coated) and 2- 200W heaters.
i have a large piece of driftwood almost completed curing/waterlog process, which would provide a ton of hiding spots.
any feedback suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
(P.S. 2 oscars and possibly the bichir will be moved into a 180g-220g by the end of august)

i see no reason for it to be a bad idea. the only hard part of housing poly'swith oscars is that most poly's can't keep up with the oscar during feeding. sp make sure they get food!
i agree your oscars would definatlly compette for the polys food if you get one and hes not getting food you could try feeding him at lights out but yah a 29 grow out should be fine i had mine in a 20 grow out i would put him in no sonner than hes atleast as long as the oscars but when you do watch them closely the oscar or mabye oscars could easily overpower the poly but all in all thats a good poly:D

i put an oscar in with my polypterus but took him out at the 6" mark, he would eat way too much of the food, he was much more of an aggressive eater than the polypterus
