In a dream
Ok so I might be purchasing a 225 gallon tank along with the stand from California. Distance from Vegas is about 258 miles (4 hours). What would be the best way to get the tank back to Vegas safely??? And of course Uhaul came to mind but how does their rates work when driving out of state and returning to the same location. Their website says that their is a fee plus another fee per mile? Not sure if thats how it works or not. Any other options to transport the tank and stand?

Also im guessing i would need straps, blankets, cardboard boxes. Anything else i would need?

If anyone has moved a large tank across state, im open to any help and advice. Thanks in advance.

Best way would be truck and/or trailer. UHaul will charge you so much a mile plus the cost of the rental. I think its .59 cents per mile on week days and .99 cents on weekends. Plus you have the cost of your gas.
At least with your own truck/trailer you only pay the gas and of course whomever helps.

Ratchet straps to secure it padding or blankets to sit it on. If sitting right next to stand some type of padding between the two
so as they don't bounce or slide into each other.

Unfortunately its not going to fit in my truck and i dont know anyone that has a truck big enough. And i dont have a trailer or dont have any experience with driving with one either. I did find this:

i found this:

i wonder what their rates would be for my trip?

They should be able to offer a pretty close quote if you have mileage figured out.

I'd look into a trailer. A smaller furniture trailer is 8x10 or so, have others go 10-12'. But if I could afford a box truck I'd probably go that route too.

Cushion it up and strap it down tight. An unsecured load is likely going to be damaged on any trip that is not around the corner.

I recently drove 300 miles (each way) for a 380 gallon, and I can say for me Uhual was the cheapest. I actually drove my car the the city where the tank was with a few friends ('moving buddies' if you will ;)), looked at the tank, and picked up the uhual. Of course I reserved the truck about 4 days ahead of time and there would have been a $50 cancelling fee the day of, but that covered me in case the tank didn't live up to the posting (right here on MFK woot!).

With gas for my car and the truck, plus rental, I was out just under $350.
I factored this into the purchase price :)

Best of luck!

Enterprise was in the mid $300's just for the rental for my trip... only benefit is it is unlimited miles.

Yeah i no have experience pulling a trailer and i dont think this is the time to start..lol. I would be too afraid to make a sharp turn and screwing up the tank. Plus only place i know to rent a trailer would be from u-haul.

Trailers are fine, as long as you don't have to back it up. Backng up a trailer is challenging if you've never done it before. Just remember that you turn your steering wheel the opposite direction that you want to trailer to go in.

Just call U-Haul and check on their rates. Perhaps you can even go to their website for information.

Keep looking.....just drive slow and cautious if you get a trailer. YOu cant learn if you dont try. It will just take some time. DO it!
